Dear Illness Fairy...

Dear Illness Fairy,

Thank you so much for visiting our house. Your stay here was unappreciated to start out with, but I believe you've gone beyond wearing out your welcome here. So, I am forcefully giving you the boot!

Yes, Ethan is getting better after having RSV and an ear infection. Luckily, the doctor could put him on antibiotics. We just BARELY managed to keep him out of the hospital. But you just couldn't help it, could you?! You had to take that extra step to make me sick, too! Thanks to you, I will be visiting the doctor tomorrow because my ears are killing me.

And can I say that your timing is impeccable Illness Fairy? You just had to choose a time when Jordan is out of town for work. He is in the Twin Cities working hard. And I'm just trying to survive with myself being horribly sick and trying to take care of a snot-nosed baby with a cough. You enjoy taking advantage of the whole situation.

Next time you decide to visit (and it better be a long time before that happens), please keep your stay to a maximum of 24 hours. You must leave pronto, or else! We expect you to cooperate and would like an apology.

Sincerely,
Kim

P.S. And please slam the door on your way out so we know you have left!

Totally Worth It

This swing that you see... totally worth it! They are not cheap swings. In fact, they are overpriced "baby" tagged items. So, we never wanted to spend the money to get it. That is until we found out how much he loved this type of swing! Our babysitter has one and she tells me stories of how he takes naps for hours in it. Now, that's hard for me to believe, until I saw it one day with my own eyes. He's a cat napper kind of guy.

We have another swing but Ethan hates it.

So, I was on the hunt for a used one of these swings. After checking craigslist and the paper, I was having no luck. After all, who really wants to spend $150 for a freaking swing???!!! But to my eyes did appear, a swing for sale at Babies R Us (online)! So, it still was not cheap. We paid $90 for it.

And now that we have it, we would have paid $500.

It's still on sale for all of you folks who are expecting in the near future! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this swing!

Just to update you on Ethan's probably RSV, he is doing ok. He had a low-grade temp last night but he is much better today. He's not eating as much so I'll have to keep my eye on that. His cough is actually a little better today and he didn't cough much at all last night. Spoke with the pediatric office yesterday and they just said that I'm looking out for the right things and if anything gets worse to bring him in.

**Update** We are going to the doctor in just a few hours. Ethan is fussy and rubbing his ears. So we'll know for sure if he has RSV... and if he has ear infections. Poor little guy.

Icky Germs

Ethan is 3 months old, yay! But, we think he caught RSV, boo!

I got a call last week from Ethan's babysitter. Her son was just diagnosed with RSV. I thought we were in the clear but that just wasn't the plan for Mr. RSV! Ethan started coughing on Monday and today his cough is worse. So, the crazy mom and nurse in me checked his lungs and they are clear. His respiration rate is normal. We are suctioning his nose and using saline drops all the time. He is still eating well, sleeping well, and overall a happy little guy. I decided not to bring him into the doctor unless he starts running temps or becomes very fussy. We're just "assuming" he has RSV. Upon doing some reading and research, some babies just get a cough, sneeze, or runny nose. The doctor won't do anything for him unless his lungs are wheezy, having trouble breathing, or getting dehydrated. I'd rather just keep him home than to take him to the clinic that is currently under fire with those icky germs.

Other than the sickness visiting our house, things are going fine. It sure is busy though! I feel like I work non-stop. Doing 48 hours a week is no easy task. I think I've finally learned how to juggle work, cooking, cleaning, and taking care of Ethan. Thank goodness I have a few days off here and there to take a nap with Ethan! In fact, I'm doing a little work from home and decided to take a break to update all of you.

And did I mention that I weighed and measured Ethan last week? He is over 13 lbs and about 24 inches long. What a little porker! Carrying a car seat with Ethan in it is becoming quite heavy!

Other things Ethan is doing... He continues to strive to become a professional drooler. He rolls from his tummy to his back. He grabs onto things but hates the taste of everything except his hands and his favorite toy. He pushes things away if he doesn't want them. He angrily grunts when he is unhappy about something. And the list goes on!

I can't wait until he can sit up on his own!
